Andy Wilson belongs to that rare breed of Balearic DJs who actually live in the Balearics. One-time teenage post-punker from Manchester, with four John Peel Sessions and numerous tours under his belt by the age of 18, Andy began DJing in 1991, a natural progression after years of making mix-tapes and spending a fortune on vinyl. The 90’s were spent travelling the world , heavily involved with the free party scene in Thailand and as an integral part of London’s notorious Sancho Panzacrew, specialists in the best warehouse and boat parties. A move to Ibiza in 1999 saw him DJ at most of the main clubs and take over the island’s only English language radio programme. In 2004, Andy helped launch Ibiza Global Radio hosting nightly shows for two seasons before leaving to co-found Ibiza Sonica in 2006 where he ran the programming and produced shows for legends such as Jose Padilla ( whohe also managed ) Nightmares On Wax, Louie Vega and many more as well as presenting a daily show and DJing in most of the island’s clubs . He now works at Sonica as a freelance producer and music consultant , programming the channels Bless Your Sound and Sonicalm, and with his weekly radio show Balearia being one of the most popular at the station, which boasts over 16 million listeners a month, and Andy also has a weekly show on Music For Dreams Radio.
He DJs and broadcasts regularly but you’re more likely to find him behind the decks at exclusive parties or soundtracking the sunsets at outdoor venues on and off Ibiza than in a big club, although he’s played Pacha, Ushuaia and Destino this season. In 2021 Andy left Hostal La Torre after 5 years as resident DJ and this summer is playing at Pikes , Café Del Mar , The Standard, Sa Trinxa and Kumharas in Ibiza plus international gigs in New York, London, Manchester and Zurich.
